Project Overview: Front entrance way, staircase, walkway and chimney rebuild
Client Comments: I called Flintstones Masonry this past fall of 2010. I had been having problems with a contractor who had claimed to be able to do a stone landing and staircase but was making costly mistakes. I called our stone supplier and asked if they could recommend a masonry company and one of the names they gave me was Flintstones. I am so happy I called Flintstones! Mike realized right away the urgency of my situation and came over to see the issues and give a quote. He also brought his mason Todd to assess the work needed to fix the issues and lay a flagstone path. I was fortunate that they had an opening between jobs and could start working immediately.
I cannot say enough how professional Mike and Todd were and everyone else at Flintstones Masonry. Todd and his assistant did a beautiful job and, we've had continual compliments on the work. I was always informed before hand of any issues, design decisions, and cost. I was always given clear and honest reasons for every issue or concern that came up. They came on time, worked hard, and for full days (unlike my first contractor) and as I say the quality of work was excellent. Todd also noticed a problem with the chimney which was at least 30 years old (possibly the original chimney.) Mike inspected it and I watched as he simply picked up a few bricks where obviously the pointing joints had failed, it was definitely unsafe and in urgent need of replacement. As Todd was on site he continued on and built a new chimney that looks fantastic! The new chimney is much nicer than the original. I was given a firm, fair quote, and Todd made sure the fireplace opening was properly sealed to prevent debris falling inside the house. I would, and have, highly recommended Flintstones Masonry to any one who needs top quality, reasonably priced professional workmanship done. Project Overview: Rebuild stone wall of patio and remove and replace concrete slabs.
Client Comments:The stone wall and aggregate concrete patio of my house offers an attractive view of the ocean and a comfortable space for outdoor entertaining. Over the years the shortcomings of the original work done on the patio became increasingly obvious - a porous and weak foundation with the ensuing sinking and cracked concrete slabs as well as serious cracks in the stone wall. It became imperative to have the stone wall rebuilt and to replace the concrete slabs.
I researched the names of reputable Victoria companies specializing in masonry work and patio construction. Having consulted with friends who had previously had such work done to their homes and visited a number of projects undertaken by Flintstones in the Victoria area, consulted the Better Business Bureau and reviewed estimates of a number of contractors, I chose Flintstones for our project. In retrospect, this was the best decision I made on this project.
My initial contact was with Mike de Palma who was the field supervisor for the project. Not being very knowledgable myself about the project, Mike explained in detail the scope of the work to be done and the cost of the project. His approach was highly professional and very courteous. Throughout the project, he carefully monitored progress and was very attentive to my concerns. Phone call requests were promptly dealt with. I was highly impressed by his managerial skills as the project supervisor.
The stonework on the wall was done by Corey Bertrand- a masterful craftsman. The new stone wall looks extremely sturdy- no surprise given the concrete base, the use of rebars and the wall's tapered construction. The wall also stands out as a work of sculpture, highly praised by neighbours. Corey is a meticulous mason, a tidy worker and a courteous person. Throughout the project, he demonstrated scrupulous respect for my neighbours and their concerns. The concrete work was led by Grant who did a superb job supervising the pouring and finishing of the concrete slabs as well as the installation of the drainage system of the new patio.
Once the patio was finished, the work site was cleaned up promptly and the entire area restored to its original condition.
I was fully satisfied with the finished product. The new patio has added a touch of elegance to our house and will , I am sure, enhance the attractiveness. functionality and value of our home.
I recommend Flintstones unreservedly to anyone considering this type of project.

Your stonemason, Todd Olson and his apprentice, Scott Tabbernor, left our condo this morning with a lasting masterfully crafted fire place and mantel.
We were truly impressed with their professionalism and artistic talent that helped create a new focal point in our living room. This improvement will surely significantly increase the value of our property. Both workers were most considerate and careful not only in our apartment, but also in the common areas of the building including the stretch of road outside.
